Informed Solutions wins Queen’s Award for Innovation

The Global CEO of Informed Solutions Elizabeth Vega is delighted that the Company - a member of the UK’s Digital Leaders 100 Network, a leading Northern Powerhouse business and top ten company on the Manchester Business Growth Hub’s #innovation100 list - has received a Queen’s Award for Innovation.

Speaking of her immense pride in the commitment, talent and achievements of the Company’s staff, Elizabeth was unashamed in wanting to share the news of winning the highest official accolade for business success; the highly coveted Queen’s Award for Innovation.

Altrincham-headquartered Informed Solutions is the only tech and digital company in Greater Manchester, and indeed the North West region, to be amongst the 2018 winners of the Queen’s Awards for Innovation.  A considerable accomplishment, as Greater Manchester is the home of UK’s Media City and the leading digital and cyber security hub.  It recognises the digital solutions and transformation work done by the Company across major government and private sector projects.

Informed has helped accelerate the digital by default agenda, moving complex services online and making them more secure and resilient, as well as accessible, personalised and user friendly.  Examples of Informed’s digital transformation work include making it easier for innocent victims of violent crime and acts of terrorism to obtain compensation; facilitating British citizens abroad having their identity authenticated and key documents legalised (e.g. birth certificates and professional qualifications) through a secure online global service; as well as analysing and mapping crime incidents to support policing services with insights to help make public transport safer.

The leading independent provider of digital transformation solutions also partnered with the Boundary Commission for England on a digital democracy project, to help significantly increase participation (particularly of young people) in the public consultation process associated with Parliamentary Boundary Reviews.

Elizabeth Vega, who founded Informed Solutions over 25 years ago, said everyone at Informed is absolutely thrilled with the award, which enhances the list of the Company’s major and prestigious achievements.

“It is a fantastic honour to be recognised for innovation at this level, making the Queen’s Award particularly satisfying,” she said. “We’ve worked really hard to create a strong workplace culture that enshrines the values of creating innovative solutions, producing work to the highest possible standard, and being trusted and ethical professionals that only take on innovation projects that we believe we can deliver.  From modest beginnings some 25 years ago, we’ve weathered numerous economic challenges and scaled up the business to work globally with blue chip clients and governments.

“Our talented and committed people have helped us achieve lots of digital firsts along the way – from being the first company to commercially put maps on mobile phones which changed the way people navigate their world, to being the first to deliver a secure cloud-based service for UK government.  Our aim is to reimagine what’s possible, manage the risks of delivering large scale innovation projects, and deliver transformational business change through smart, collaborative working.  We haven’t stopped pushing boundaries and this Award is down to the incredible hard work and talent of our people.”

Among those to congratulate Informed Solutions on the Queen’s Award was the Altrincham and Sale West MP, Sir Graham Brady.

"The Queen's Awards are the highest and most prestigious official awards given to British business for excellence and reputation and I'm delighted that Informed Solutions, an Altrincham based company in my constituency, has received this honour,” he said.

“Informed Solutions is a fine example of a Greater Manchester company that's remained true to its roots whilst successfully growing the business across the UK and now exporting globally.   It recruits a diverse workforce, invests in research and development, and is committed to up-skilling its staff, all of which contribute to a culture which encourages innovation and excellence.  The Queen’s Award for Innovation is richly deserved by everyone at Informed Solutions and I'd like to sincerely congratulate them on this wonderful achievement."

The Award will be personally presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of the County, Her Majesty The Queen’s local representative in Greater Manchester.  There will also be a private Buckingham Palace reception for winners later in the year.
