Chamber Sponsor Virgin Australia announces new Chief Financial Officer for Velocity
Virgin Australia Group today announced the appointment of Sterling Brain to the newly created role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Velocity Frequent Flyer.
Mr Brain brings over 20 years’ experience in finance and strategy to the Group, having most recently held the role of Head of Loyalty at National Australia Bank.
Virgin Australia Group Chief Executive Officer John Borghetti said: “Velocity Frequent Flyer is a significant value driver for the Virgin Australia Group and over the last five years the program has more than doubled membership numbers to 4.8 million, increased member engagement and built the widest retail offering of any program in Australia.
“Velocity is now moving into its next phase of growth and therefore I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Sterling Brain to the new role of CFO. Sterling’s extensive experience in loyalty, finance and strategy will be of tremendous value to the Group as we continue to build one of the world’s leading loyalty programs”, Mr Borghetti said.
Mr Brain has previously held roles as Head of Finance and Strategy Principal at NAB, as well as senior positions at The Boston Consulting Group and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds an MBA (with Distinction) from INSEAD, France and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales. He is also a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Brain will commence with Velocity Frequent Flyer in May 2015.
